The One Shot Deal Emergency Assistance program helps people who cannot meet an expense due to an unexpected situation or event. Emergency assistance is provided for, but not limited to, the following situations: homelessness, dispossession/eviction (Rental Arrears up to 5 months, Move - In Money, 1st Month & Security & Broker's Fee if applicable), utility disconnected or pending termination, fire disaster, domestic violence, or other circumstances that affect the health and safety of the individual or family. PSE&G Help Managing Energy Bill
Long Island
PSE&G has a few programs and arrangements that can help you pay past due bills or help you stay current. If you are facing service termination, contact PSEG right away to see if you can work out an agreement. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, service must continue to be provided for 30 days. If you are elderly, blind or disabled, the utility company must make special effort to keep your service on.

Home Energy Assistance Program - Long Island (HEAP)
Nassau and Suffolk
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a state benefit program that assists eligible low-income households that have an energy bill in their name or their heat included in their rent. Emergency HEAP grants are available if a household has less than a 10-day supply of fuel, termination, or 72-hour threat of termination from Utilities.
